Toilet Seats Cleaner than Cell Phones

Toilet Seats Cleaner than Cell Phones
Would you go into a public toilet and put your head on the seat? Most men cringe at the thought. But, they think nothing of gluing a cell phone to their ears for that all-important business call. British researchers found that they would be better off with the toilet seat. Most cell phones harbor a dangerous array of bacteria, including Staphylococcus aureus (staph), which can cause serious illness ranging from skin diseases to meningitis. Some of these bugs are resistant to antibiotics. The combination of dirty hands and faces and the warmth of the cell phone combine to form a Garden of Eden for bacteria. Keep your cell phone clean with antibiotic wipes and wash your hands often during the day. (ABC News, Aug. 4, 2005)
