Viagra is a Party Drug for Young Men

Viagra gave aging Romeos a sexual second wind, but the erection-promoting medication is the recreational drug of choice for many young party animals. Just like some wannabe athletes use steroids so they don’t have to work so hard in the gym, many young studly bearcats use Viagra, Cialis, and Levitra as sexual crutches.

Argentinian researchers found that 21 percent of young men used Viagra recreationally, and 51 percent of those men combined it with alcohol. Most got the drug without a prescription from friends, or on the Internet. Many young men use erection-promoting drugs to compensate for performance anxiety and to increase sexual capacity. If casual sex were an Olympic sport, drugs like Viagra would be on the banned list. (Journal of Sexual Medicine, 7: 3736-3742, 2010)
