HIIT Training - Builds Fitness Fast
High-intensity interval training (HIIT) refers to repeated bouts of high-intensity exercise interrupted by rest. Compared to moderate-intensity aerobics, HIIT causes greater improvements in maximal oxygen consumption, blood vessel health, blood pressure, heart function, blood sugar regulation, and neuromuscular control. While the training is intense and difficult, the results are amazing. You can use your favorite aerobic exercises for interval training, including track or treadmill running, stair climbers, elliptical trainers, swimming, or cycling. Make HIIT an important part of your exercise program. (Strength and Conditioning Journal, 31 (6): 44-46)
