‘The Gift’ Has a Legacy Under His Belt

7x Mr. Olympia Phil Heath

A lot of bodybuilders come and go, but only a handful of competitors have stayed on top long enough to become bodybuilding superstars, enjoying longevity in the sport through hard work, integrity and determination. Seven-time Mr. Olympia Phil Heath is that rare bodybuilder. When Phil stepped onstage at the 2011 Mr. Olympia contest, history was made. Phil’s rock-hard physique cast a huge and formidable shadow over the Orleans Arena, raising the bar a few notches and ushering in a new era of competition. Jaws dropped as “The Gift” set a new standard for size, shape and conditioning, and reshaped our vision of what it means to be Mr. Olympia— like Ronnie Coleman, Jay Cutler and Dorian Yates did in years past. That marked beginning of “Phil Heath era” of Mr. Olympia competition, and Phil Heath would be the man to beat from that moment on.

Denver’s most muscular resident is so good that he can beat his rivals even when he’s not at his best. Phil Heath arguably has the most complete physique bodybuilding has ever seen. And as the top bodybuilder of the past decade, Phil has had many people in his corner encouraging him during his ongoing reign, including his best friend, four-time Mr. Olympia Jay Cutler. Another strong supporter and friend of Phil’s is Schiek Sports, one of the top fitness brands for the last 28 years.

Phil and Schiek have been together for almost 10 years, allowing Phil to train his hardest. “I can’t help but get excited when I wear Schiek because it’s really a brand which carries a standard of stability, innovation and toughness all the while keeping me looking cool in the gym,” Heath said.

Phil’s praise for Schiek runs much deeper than an appreciation for his lifting belt. A plaque that Phil gave to John Schiek, CEO of Schiek Sports, reads in part: “You have proven that you never accepted being a person who wanted to blend in, but a man whose work ethic makes himself along with his brand STAND OUT!”

Phil Heath is a very gifted athlete— that’s why he’s known as “The Gift.” But Phil’s unique place in bodybuilding history transcends his physique. Only eight competitors have won the Sandow more than twice— and Phil Heath is a member of that elite group of Sergio Oliva, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Frank Zane, Lee Haney, Dorian Yates, Ronnie Coleman and Jay Cutler. Phil is a member of Mr. Olympia royalty, as he has created his own “Heath era” of domination— by setting a new standard for size, shape and conditioning and carving out his place in bodybuilding history.

Like Phil Heath, Schiek has built a huge following and a successful global brand based on hard work, determination and high standards of quality. This has been the case since Schiek Sports “put all its oars in the water” so speak, in March 1991 and set out to market the finest lifting belt the world had yet known. Schiek has maintained the same passion, integrity, credibility, and customer service ever since. Today, Schiek products are sold in over 85 countries worldwide and offer over 77 product lines. Most Schiek products are made in the USA and all of them have been born from customer and dealer requests. Schiek Sports offers products that their customers want and are asking for.

In addition to Phil Heath, Schiek has been associated with many of the top athletes in the sport of bodybuilding including Jay Cutler, Brandon Hendrickson, Latorya Watts, Angelica Teixeira, Dennis Wolf, Shawn Rhoden and Michael Lockett.
