So in case you forgot to look at your calendar, today just happens to be July 1st. That means we are officially half way through the year and if you have been slow to get out of the starting gate, there’s a good chance your fitness goals for 2013 are lagging. Before you waste another day, now is as good a time as any to start fresh.
If you screwed up and missed a bunch of days in the gym because you stayed out too late the night before indulging in the ‘good things’ in life, your body forgives you and penance has been paid. But the clock is ticking and if you continue to go about this at a snail’s pace, then it will be last year all over again – and you probably don’t want that to happen.
Don’t wait until next week because you have the built in excuse that the Fourth of July week/weekend will be your last hurrah for partying. That isn’t going to fly, my friend. It’s put up or shut up time and you know it. So get of your ass and start today – right now.
That doesn’t mean that you can’t enjoy yourself on a Saturday night. But there’s a limit that you know you cannot go over or else you have wasted another day. No one knows their own body better than you – so put that knowledge to the test and impress yourself for once.
The reason why fitness is a lifestyle is that you can’t half-ass it and expect the same results as if you were all in. Is being in shape boring at times? I suppose that you can say that with a straight face, but unless you’re genetics allow you to do and eat whatever you want and still look and feel good, then you’re out of luck.
If you feel that these last six months have come and gone with a missed opportunity, then you know what you need to do. Buckle up, boys. This may be a rough ride.
