Milk Protein Isolates

Milk Protein Isolates
Milk Protein Isolate – Milk Protein Isolate (MPI) is the matter extracted from the removal of non-protein constituents, both lactose and mineral forms, from skim milk so that the ending result contains 90% or more protein by weight; thus increasing its absorption rate. MPI may be produced by an extensive filtration process, dialysis, or any other means by which all or part of the lactose is removed by a safe and suitable manner. MPI’s contains both casein and whey proteins in their original proportions found in milk, without combining casein (caseinate) and whey proteins (and their rations: 80-90% casein and 10-20% whey).

Milk Protein IsolatesMilk Protein Isolate contains a high level of absorbable protein, making it highly desired amongst athletes, and contains very little fat (typically less than 3%), very little carbs and almost no lactose. MPI’s can be used as a daily supplement for those who do not ingest the recommended amount of protein in their diet or those who are lactose intolerant. MPI’s have a very high amino acid composition that makes it ideal for use in protein bars and meal replacement powders. Milk protein adds a high-quality boost of amino acids to these supplement products that helps you gain or maintain lean muscle, increases feelings of fullness (satiety) and also enhances their texture/flavor.

Since MPI’s are a high-quality protein source, manufacturers may add it to dairy foods to improve their nutritional profile, especially milk or yogurt. Fitness enthusiast sometimes mix MPI’s into their smoothies, breakfast cereal, or casseroles to boost their protein content. You can also use it to augment whole-food protein sources, such as meat, poultry, fish and eggs, (please note that adding protein supplements to foods containing high amounts of protein isn’t recommended because of the limited absorption rate at any given time). Foods with MPI’s are often marketed to athletes to use in post-workout recovery. The high-quality protein can also be of use to the elderly, who sometimes don’t get ideal nutrition, and people with wasting diseases, such as cancer, or for young children during their developing years to assist with potential diet fluctuations. Please take a look at the supplement section of Fitness RX for Men to see their extensive inventory with products that contain Milk Protein Isolates as their ingredient(s).
